Event Overview:
Slow Food is expecting 100 Italian producers who uphold the mission of Slow Food and strive to protect, nurture and revive Italian varietals and winemaking techniques.

Each producer will feature two wines. All 200 of the wines represent regions in Italy, while epitomizing the quality and range of Italian viticulture. Classic varietals will include Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Fiano and Tocai, and rare varietals such as Foja Tonda from Trentino, Sussumaniello from Puglia, Casavecchia from Campania, Timorasso from Piemonte and Catarratto from Sicily will be served.

Supplying a culinary context for these fine wines, the food component of the event will feature house-cured meats, handmade cheeses, farmers' market fresh produce, artisan breads and much more.

The three-fold goal of the event is to:

  • promote and maintain biodiversity
  • encourage the continuity of local traditions and products
  • help establish viable markets for small-scale artisan producers

In addition to the main Golden Glass tasting,
Slow Food San Francisco will host:

  • A Silent Auction featuring large format bottles of wine. Auction proceeds will benefit the Slow Food San Francisco School Garden program
  • Dinners created by Italian chefs, in San Francisco restaurants, preparing traditional recipes using local products
